Fitting process
Assessments are always free. At this visit you will meet Laura Scholtes, owner and Certified Prosthetist at Pathways Prosthetic Design Lab. We will go through an assessment together to determine your needs and hopes for your prosthetic care. We will discuss things such as your overall medical condition, residual limb shaping strategies, funding avenues, socket design and the component options that will go into making your new prosthesis.

Fitting process
Together we must have a shared commitment to the fitting process. Fitting a new prosthesis consists of the following stages over the course of 5-6 visits:
- A mold will be taken of your residual limb
- A test socket will be fabricated, set up on your components and made ready for fitting
- Following the fitting appointment, you will take your test prosthesis for a home trial to ensure it is comfortable
- Then, your final prosthesis will be fabricated and fit
- A cosmetic cover will be sculpted over your prosthesis if desired
- Follow up appointments will be booked to ensure a comfortable fit

The foundation for your prosthesis is in the socket. At Pathways Prosthetic Design Lab we focus first on optimizing the socket design and build the rest of your prosthesis from there. We will work with you and the clinic team to determine which type of socket is right for you. The socket is completely customized to match your shape.
